Emotions That Can Be Heard

My name is Yancey and I believe I have good taste in music and so does my right hand man Lee-To-The-Andrew. We made this blog to share our taste to the masses as well as our own projects. I’ve always thought music is human emotion that can be heard, and shared, which is why it has been with us since our inception. People always say to us, "Guys, when I want to kill myself or cry into my pillow or my wife has just left me for my sister I don't have music to play, because you guys are a musical geniuses." One day while watching adult TV We said to ourselves, "We are a geniuses!" People are crying out for a soundtrack to listen to, to give them an optimistic slap on the tough times in life and we're going to give it to them.
You have questions? I've got answers.

One day when I was super bored I watched a film to subside my boredness. The film was “Once.” Directed by John Carney, this film is a musical. I’m not going to review the film, but one of the songs caught my attention because I was young when I saw the film and I was going through a phase where I liked girls that never liked me back. The name of the song is “If You Want Me” by Marketa Irglova and Glen Hansard. It is a very romantic song with innocent and haunting vocals. Check it out.

Now I’m going old school on this post. One name, Nina Simone. One of the most influential and admired african american singers of the 20th century. Her birth name is Eunice Kathleen Waymon. She was born in Tryson, North Carolina on February 21, 1933. She was the sixth of eight children in a poor family. Eunice started playing the piano at age 3. Growing up she had stuggles mostly because of the segregation, and later became apart of the Civil Rights Movement of the 60s. Her sound is nothing short but legendary. Her raunchy masculine voice with her Jazz arrangements is a combination of smoothness and roughness but in a way where it feels good. She is one of my favorite singers of all time. This is her song “Break Down and Let It All Out” from her acclaimed album “Wild is The Wind.” Check her out.

If you guys love techno music then you’re going to love this. Austra is a Canadian electronic band. They fall under many genres like synth pop, dark wave, new wave, and dream pop. The lead singer is Kate Stelmanis. Their sound is sexy and dark. The vocals from Kate has a haunting characteristic that can’t be ignored. Here is their song
"Spellwork" from their album "Feel It Break". Check them out.

Animal Collective - Honeycomb

I said it before and I’ll say it again! I CAN NOT WAIT FOR THEIR NEW ALBUM TO DROP! I dont think i ever wanted summer to end so fast. If im correct, this ish is gonna drop sometime during the Fall season. Honeycomb is Kinda reminds me of MMP, with it’s popish sound but aint complaining. BrB gonna go listen to this track 20 more times.- L.R

Centipede Hz’s album art is out. Looks odd for an Animal Collective cover but when has Animal Collective been one to repeat themselves? This ish should be dropping around the Fall season. I cant wait.- L.R

Death Grips - Hustle Bones (Official video)

Coming straight out of Sacramento, California with their Sophomore album “The Money Store” Is Death Grips. Ight, so lets get a few things straight! Death Grips is one of those Hip-Hop groups that can do no harm at this point in time. Obviously that’s not true but HOLY HELL are they putting out some dope material. The Money Store is a near perfect album for me. Every song hits harder than an exploding sun two feet from your face. And Hustle Bones is no exception! MC Ride’s Flow and lyrics can send chills down the spine of even the most harden criminals. Eat this shit up, regurgitate it and eat it all over again. L.R

mewithoutYou - Elephant in the Dock

I’m not a huge fan of Post-Hardcore bands but mewithoutyou is an exception. These guys are a 4 piece post-hardcore band from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.     Elephant in the Dock comes off their 5th studio album “Ten Stories”. This track is fan-FUCKING-tastic. Everything from the Lyrics to the vocal delivery to the chorus hits home with me. It’s almost like candy for my ears. Well sour candy, seeing as how the subject matter of the song is a little depressing. But I dare you not to sing along when the line “Hang, the elephant must hang” comes up because it is almost irresistible. That being said I think you should check out the full album. This song is great but losses a little something when it is by it’s self. The track just seems so much more hard hitting when the album is played in it’s entirety. If you liked this track you are gonna love the album.- L.R

Michel Legrand, famous French Jazz Composer. One of my favorite composers out there. His notable works are The Thomas Crown Affair (1968), The Umbrellas of Cherbourg (1964), F for Fake (1974), and Never Say Never Again (1983).
